Who says food can’t heal? After Elina Nulman, 26, was diagnosed with fibomyalgia, she decided to try a raw-food diet consisting entirely of raw fruits and vegetables and other whole foods heated to no more than 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the point at which raw foodists believe food loses its nutritional value. She says that within 24 hours her symptoms virtually disappeared, although she’s had a hard time convincing fellow fibromyalgia sufferers that the lifestyle is worth the effort. “If you tell someone you can’t eat pizza or you can’t have bacon and eggs in the morning anymore or you might be in pain, they really won’t care,” she says. “I have brought it up to tons of people and they’re like, ‘I don’t care, I’m not changing my diet. I’d rather be on medication.’”
